Go on the Two Yurt Adventure of a Lifetime in Kamchatka

with Got Fishing and Kamchatka

The Two Yurt River is set in perhaps the most beautiful valley on the Peninsula. Flowing east, the Two Yurt River drains the lake by the same name. Similar in size to Brooks Lake in Alaska, one clear distinction exists—no other people can be seen. With our 50 year EXCLUSIVE use permit only 6 anglers per week are fortunate to see this abundant fishery. With a huge run of Sockeye and King Salmon, Rainbows gorge on eggs and flesh growing to large proportions. Two Yurt combines many streams and offers every imaginable type of water, from freestone pocket water to long spring creek glides By late June the mighty King Salmon enter the river pulling Rainbow Trout upstream from both the Yelovka and Kamchatka river drainages. From early July to early October, the 50 miles of river below the lake become thick with Rainbows. Without a doubt it is the lake drain/spring creek character of the Two Yurt that gives it the remarkable number of fish in this 100 mile long system.  The Two Yurt is the same approximate latitude as Prince Rupert flowing through the Tamarac Island of Kamchatka. The season on the Two Yurt emphasizes fishing rather than floating.  Some of the camps are located more closely together to allow more intensive coverage of prime pieces of water. Anglers begin and end each day at one of five permanent camps that are spaced a full day of fishing apart.

Kent Goodman

It was easy to see at a young age, I was destined for great travel and outdoor fishing experiences. Not because of an affluent upbringing, we were quite poor, but rather the ability to dream big and have a vision and goals. At the age of 10, I plastered my room with photos of fishing and hunting destinations and the species that lived there. I had a subscription to Outdoor Life and read every word then used it as my personal décor. As early as I can remember, I was obsessed with fishing and had a rare patience and optimism that the fish would turn on and bite, even when everyone else was packing up and heading home – I wanted “one more cast”. Before I had a driver’s license, I talked my mother into driving me to crazy places in search of fish. This insatiable desire for fishing, lead me to the fishing industry as; an outfitter, guide, fly tier, casting instructor, published author and photographer all while chasing fish all over the globe. I have found great reward in helping others experience their own fishing memories. I don’t care if it is throwing a buzz bait for top water bass, spey fishing in British Columbia for giant steelhead, or fishing the saltwater flats for permit, I have done it and love helping people get there. I chose my college based on being close to great steelhead fishing and got my Economics and Business Administration degrees from Eastern Oregon State University. They should have given me another degree in Aquatic Studies with a minor in the Life Cycles of Steelhead. After college and getting married to my wife Taryna, (24 years) we lived in Boise Idaho and fished the rich waters of Eastern Oregon, Central Idaho and Western Montana. Now I am settled in Hagerman Idaho where we live on and manage an amazing ranch with waterfowl and rainbow trout. Our sons (2) have grown up here chasing fowl and fish and we are truly blessed. I look forward to helping you find and visit amazing fishing locations because we all deserve “one more cast”.
