Navigating the Pyrenees can be challenging, but Salvelinus has been expertly guiding international anglers since 1999. With a seasoned team who have exclusively guided Salvelinus guests for over a decade, you’re in experienced hands.
The southern slopes of the Pyrenees boast 17 main rivers, 118 tributaries, and 2,512 glacial lakes. Each month offers different opportunities for various species in diverse environments.
Choose From Three Tailored Programs:
Aren
Fly fish major wild trout rivers and streams from the medieval village of Arén. Explore waters suitable for all skill levels, from national parks to hidden spots, and enjoy the local culture and cuisine at the lodge’s 300-year-old restaurant. Main hatches occur from March to June, with summer offering varied backcountry options. Stable weather from September to October and prolific nymph and streamer fishing in November.
Santa Cilia
Fish rich trout waters with 3 to 7-weight rods in the remote Pyrenees from Santa Cilia, a charming village along the Way of St. James. Salvelinus’s first fly-fishing lodge, established in 1999, offers access to prolific freestones, crystal-clear lakes, and tailwaters with native browns. March to late June features the best hatches, while July to October provide prime opportunities for highland choppers and mid-country trophy trout.
Pyrenees Trout Tour
Led by Iván Tarín, a top connoisseur of the Pyrenees’s hidden corners, this tour pairs his expert guide team with the best hatches, waters, food, and wines. Limited to a few handpicked departures each season, it’s praised as Europe’s most diverse and enriching trout tour. Spring dates offer great hatches, summer brings varied scenarios, and fall provides typical opportunities with fair weather.
Experience unparalleled comfort and local charm with thoughtfully selected accommodations. Whether nestled in a medieval village or a quaint Pyrenean hamlet, each lodge offers a perfect blend of rustic elegance and modern amenities.
After a day of exceptional fly fishing, relax in cozy, well-appointed rooms and enjoy hearty regional cuisine crafted from local ingredients. Every detail is designed to enhance your fishing adventure and immerse you in the rich culture and natural beauty of the Pyrenees.

About The Fish
Brown Trout
The predominant species is the Brown trout, particularly an old Mediterranean sub-species. In high country freestones, some exhibit four dark stripes, earning them the nickname “Zebra Trout.”
Rainbow Trout
Rainbows were introduced into Pyrenean waters over 60 years ago. Generally more aggressive than browns, these large rainbows can present a true challenge.
Brook Trout
Many Pyrenean headwaters were stocked with Brook Trout in the 1950s. Today, they are found only in specific streams and lakes, rarely coexisting with other trout, and readily rise to dry flies.
Iberian Barbel
Powerful native barbel, living in freestone streams, are known for their strength and are exciting to catch on dry flies. If you’re up for the challenge while trout fishing, these barbel will test your ability to accurately sight cast.
