There are fishing trips, and then there are trips like this.
I just got back from hosting an incredible trip down the Middle Fork of the Salmon River, deep in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness…the largest contiguous wilderness in the lower 48. Everything about this trip is an adventure!
For 100 miles, we floated through some of the most remote and spectacular country that you will find anywhere. The fishing was exactly what you hoped for on the Middle Fork: unlimited Westslope cutthroat and plenty of willing fish. One of our clients caught 50 fish in a single day!
But as good as the fishing was, the Middle Fork is about much more than catching fish. We soaked in natural hot springs along the river, hiked into historic Indian sites and looked at ancient pictographs, and spent our evenings around camp enjoying some pretty incredible Dutch-oven cooking right on the riverbank.
With 20 clients and 9 guides, it was a great group from start to finish. Lots of laughs, good food, great fishing, and that feeling you only get when you are truly miles from the nearest road.
River trips are special, and the Middle Fork is one of those places that reminds you to slow down, breathe deep, and remember what really is important in life.
Get outside, chase some fish, see some country, and make some memories.
This was one hell of a trip, and I’m already looking forward to the next one.
